- Game Days at local venues across Pittsburgh
- Any system, from D&D to indie one-pagers
- Free tables at every Game Day, no experience needed
- X-Cards on every table
Steel City RPG is a community organization dedicated to bringing people together through story-driven tabletop role-playing games across Pittsburgh.
Our mission is to make tabletop gaming accessible, social and welcoming for everyone, from first-time players to experienced Game Masters, while supporting the local game shops and venues that help tabletop gaming thrive.
- Do I need experience?
- No. Most tables hand you a ready-made character, and your GM teaches the rules as you play. If a table wants you to make a character first, its listing says so.
- How do I get a seat?
- RSVP to the table you want on Meetup (you’ll need a free account). Walk-ins are welcome too: if a seat’s open, it’s yours. How Game Days work
- What should I bring?
- Just yourself. Every table has dice to borrow. Many of our venues are game stores, so you can pick up dice of your own on the day, or the game itself if you had a blast.
- Coming alone, or with friends?
- Both work. Plenty of people come solo and leave with a party. Bringing friends? RSVP to the same table so you sit together.
- How long does it take?
- Most sessions run three to six hours. Arrive a few minutes early to meet your GM and settle in.
- Can younger players come?
- Yes, with a parent or guardian, wherever the venue allows it.
- What if my table doesn’t run?
- Now and then a table is short on players, and tables combine on the day so everyone still gets a game. The event lead sorts out seats on the spot.
- What if a scene gets too much?
- Tap the X-Card on the table. No explanation needed: the story moves on. Safety at the table
- Look after the venue
- Our venues make room for us, so order a drink or a bite if you can, and leave the space as you found it. Can’t make it after all? Un-RSVP so someone else gets your seat.
Build community
Create inclusive events where players and Game Masters can meet new people and tell great stories together.
Support local game stores and venues
Partner with local businesses to bring consistent RPG events that grow the tabletop community while encouraging in-store engagement.
Accessible entry to the hobby
One-shot sessions give new players a low-commitment way to try tabletop games for the first time.
Ongoing play opportunities
As the community grows, we also support short campaigns, pilot sessions for new systems, and recurring game nights run by local Game Masters.
Diverse systems
Events feature a variety of tabletop RPGs, including D&D, Pathfinder, OSR systems, indie games and newly released systems.
Positive culture
Events are guided by a clear Code of Conduct to keep play safe, respectful and welcoming.

Our inspirationOur senpai
Tokyo Roleplaying Society (opens in a new tab)
Our Game Days are inspired by theirs: regular multi-table days at local venues, where anyone can drop in for a one-shot, try a system they've never seen, or keep a campaign going. We've shaped the format to fit us, and we keep in touch across the ocean.

Our sister groupOur sister group
Bugbear Board Games (opens in a new tab)
Our sister group, and we're partnered with them. If board games are your thing too, come say hi at theirs.

Pittsburgh Pathfinder Society (opens in a new tab)
They run Pathfinder and Starfinder Society organized play around Pittsburgh: the specialists to our generalists. We run some tables for them, and they run tables at our venues.

TTRPGH (opens in a new tab)
The Tabletop Roleplaying Game Hub is a new Pittsburgh RPG group and a friend of ours. We share each other’s events.
- A Game Day is announcedDate and venue go up on Meetup and here.
- RSVP to the Game DayIt helps us plan the space.
- Tables go liveGames post as GMs submit them, so check back.
- RSVP to a tableThat's what gets you a seat.
- Show up and playPull up a chair. We hand you a character.
- The Game Day
- Each Game Day has a date, a venue and a time window. RSVP to the Game Day itself so we know how much space to ask the venue for.
- The tables
- Tables go up as GMs submit them and we confirm them, so new games keep appearing right up to the day. Each table gets its own listing with its time and game: one-shots, episodes, short arcs and campaigns.
- Getting a seat
- RSVP to the table you want. That’s what holds your seat (the Game Day RSVP is just for planning). Read the GM’s notes in the listing; some tables ask you to bring or make something first.
- Waitlisted?
- Come anyway and hang out. Seats open up when someone can’t make it or a table gets added, though they’re not guaranteed.

More to come
New venues and notable events join the log as they happen.
Every Game Day has X-Cards on the table: tap one and the scene moves on, no explanation needed. GMs are encouraged to set Lines & Veils before play, so everyone knows what's off the table and what stays off-screen.
Harassment of any kind isn't tolerated, at the table or around it. If something's wrong, tell your GM or an organizer at the event, or email safety@steelcityrpg.com. We'll take it from there, privately. The full Code of Conduct covers Game Days, Discord and online play.

Want in? Grab a seat at the next Game Day, or bring a game of your own to run.
