Steel City RPG
Privacy Policy
Short version: we collect as little as we can, we count visits and clicks without knowing who you are, and we never sell anything about you.
Last updated: October 3, 2026
Who we are
Steel City RPG ("we", "us") is a tabletop roleplaying game community in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This policy covers this website (steelcityrpg.com) and our Game Day email list.
The site is built and maintained for us by Threadline Advisory LLC (opens in a new tab) under a service agreement. It handles information only to run the site for us, never for its own purposes.
Questions or requests: info@steelcityrpg.com.
When you browse this site
- No advertising, no tracking cookies, no accounts. We use cookieless, anonymous analytics (below) to learn which parts of the site help people.
- Every page, font, image and script is served from our own domain. Your browser doesn't contact third parties just by visiting.
- Our host, Vercel, processes the technical details every website receives (IP address, browser type, the page requested) to deliver pages and keep the site secure. See Vercel's privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
Analytics (counting visits and clicks)
To improve the site, we count page views and a short list of clicks, such as opening a Game Day card, following an RSVP link or choosing a stats tab, using Umami (opens in a new tab), a privacy-focused analytics service.
- No cookies, no fingerprinting and no profile of you. Umami doesn't store IP addresses.
- What's counted: the page, the referring site, browser and device type, country or region, and the name of the click (e.g. "rsvp"). Never what you type, your email, or anything that identifies you.
- We only ever look at totals, such as "40 people opened a Game Day card this month".
- Opting out: if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is counted. Blocking scripts works too, and the site works the same either way.
- The analytics script and its requests go through our own domain, and Umami processes them for us.
Cookies and browser storage
This site sets no cookies. That's why there's no cookie banner: there's nothing to consent to.
To remember a few display choices, the site saves small notes in your own browser's storage. They never leave your device and are never sent to us:
| Name | What it remembers | How long |
|---|---|---|
scrpg.theme | Light or dark mode, if you picked one | Until you clear it |
scrpg.flow | Whether you tucked away "How Game Days work" | Until you clear it |
scrpg.visits | How many times you've visited, so the steps tuck away from your third visit | Until you clear it |
scrpg.visited | That this visit is already counted | Until you close the tab |
scrpg.flavor | Whether you turned on "Full flavor" (themed words) | Until you clear it |
| Offline copy | A copy of pages and files, so the site opens when your connection drops | Replaced on each update |
You can clear all of it in your browser's settings ("site data"); the site works the same without it. Sites we link to (Meetup, Discord, Ko-fi, Google Forms and others) set their own cookies under their own policies once you visit them.
Our email list (Game Day news)
- What we collect: your email address, your first name if you give it, and which topics you tick (Game Days, Run a table, Community & partners), so we only send what you asked for.
- What for: announcing Game Days and sharing community news. Nothing else, and never sold or shared.
- How: sign-ups are stored by Kit, our email service, which sends a confirmation email first, so nobody can sign you up without you knowing. See Kit's privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
- Leaving: every email has an unsubscribe link, or email us and we'll remove you.
- Age: you must be 13 or older to sign up.
If we add accounts or a community forum later, we'll update this policy before launch and ask before using your email for anything new.
Information you give us elsewhere
- RSVPs and tickets happen on Meetup, Warhorn and Ticketleap, under their own privacy policies. We see what those services show organizers, such as your display name on an RSVP.
- Game submissions from Game Masters arrive through the form on this site (or our older Google Form). The form sends your answers straight to the organizers' private workspace in Notion; this website doesn't store or show them. We use them to plan Game Days and to get back to you. A game's title, system and description, and the name you give as GM, may appear in event listings.
- Sign-ins at Game Days: we may ask your name and whether it's your first time with us, to plan events and count attendance. Only anonymous totals ever appear on this website.
- Emails to us: we keep the conversation so we can reply and follow up.
- Ko-fi support is processed by Ko-fi. We see what Ko-fi shares with creators, such as your name and any message.
How long we keep it
Email-list details stay until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Other records stay for as long as we need them to run the community, and we delete them when they're no longer useful.
Your choices
Email info@steelcityrpg.com to see, correct or delete what we hold about you. We reply within 30 days. We don't sell or "share" personal information for advertising, so there's nothing to opt out of.
Children
This site isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think we have, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
We'll update this page when anything changes and change the date at the top. Big changes will also be announced to the email list.
See also our Terms of Use.
