Steel City RPG
Code of Conduct
How we treat each other at Game Days, online and anywhere else we play together.
Last updated: October 3, 2026
Everywhere we play
Steel City RPG is here to get more people around more tables. We want every game to feel supportive, safe and fun, whatever your experience, identity or background. This code applies at Game Days, in our Discord, in online games, and anywhere else you're there as part of Steel City RPG.
Be kind and respectful. Treat everyone with respect. Harassment, threats and demeaning comments aren't okay.
No hate, ever. We have zero tolerance for harassment based on age, body size, disability, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, level of experience, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation. Discriminatory language, jokes or slurs about any of these mean immediate removal.
Everyone's welcome. We celebrate the different backgrounds people bring to the table, from the RPG-curious to seasoned grognards.
Respect people's boundaries. If someone says a topic or scene isn't okay for them, stop and move on, with no debate and no explanation needed.
At the table (Game Days and online)
Safety tools are at every table. Every table has an X-Card. GMs are encouraged to use Lines & Veils or similar tools too, so everyone is comfortable with what the game covers.
If a player is uncomfortable, the GM and players respect that right away and steer the game elsewhere.
Show up on time. Most games run three to six hours, so arrive promptly. If you can't make it, let the group know as early as you can.
Be present. Keep phone use and side conversations to a minimum. It respects the GM's prep and keeps everyone in the story.
Play in good faith. Disagree about rules respectfully. The GM's call is final for the session, so the game keeps moving.
At Game Days (in person)
Be a good guest. Our venues make Game Days possible. Support them as they ask (for example, buy food or a drink), clean up after yourself, and be courteous to staff and other customers.
Drink responsibly. If you drink, do it responsibly. Disruptive behavior from drinking means removal from the event.
Personal space. Respect people's physical and personal boundaries. No unwanted physical contact.
Online play
Same table, same rules. Everything in “At the table” applies on voice and video. Ask before recording a session, and don't share recordings or screenshots of other players without their OK.
Reporting a problem
If you experience or see something that breaks this code, tell us. We handle every report privately.
- At a Game Day: tell an organizer or the GM at your table.
- On Discord: send a private message to an organizer or a GM.
- Anytime: email safety@steelcityrpg.com.
What happens next
The organizer team acts on reports quickly and fairly. Depending on what happened, that can mean:
- a private warning;
- a temporary mute or ban on Discord;
- removal from an event;
- a permanent ban from all Steel City RPG events and the Discord.
